I've pulled away from my business for a couple of weeks. I had a meltdown. I'm still currently in my job that I have had enough of, and working on building my own business that I am passionate about.
I recently found out that a colleague is leaving the office, that's when I broke down. I beat myself up for not doing more for my business. I have felt a little lost recently. One of my friends noticed that I was not my usual self. We spoke about it. Now they are ambitious, which is great. But I struggled with a piece of advice they gave me. Thay said to focus on an amount of money I want to make. Now this concept I struggle with. My focus is not on the money, I know that will come. My focus is on what I offer and the value I bring.
Now I know this advice is with good intentions, but I don't think it's the best advice.
I was away over the weekend at my dad's cottage. We relaxed and celebrated his birthday. It was what I needed. To be back with nature, in an environment that is peaceful. I feel I have recharged my batteries and refocused.
Sometimes when everything seems to be getting on top of you, it's a good idea to take a step back and gain some clarity.
I am now re-focused. I have a plan for both of my businesses and feel less stressed.
It's ok to sometimes to feel overwhelmed. But when you're in a time like this take a step back. Take a look at what is causing you to feel this way, think about what small steps you could make to move in the right direction. Talk to friends and family about it, they will come up with ideas that you haven't thought of. Even obvious answers!
When have you felt overwhelmed? What has helped you to gain clarity?
How do you make sure that you get some down time?
